The Ethel reimagines supportive housing, placing interior design at the center of community, dignity, and well-being. Located in Hill East near the Stadium-Armory Metro, this 100-unit multifamily building combines affordable housing with workforce training amenities, retail, and shared community spaces.
Every interior detail balances practicality with warmth and belonging. Durable, low-maintenance finishes ensure resilience, while vibrant colors and schoolhouse-inspired accents create a welcoming, uplifting atmosphere that reflects the building’s historic exterior. Biophilic touches, natural materials, patterns, and views bring a restorative connection to nature into the urban environment.
Common areas serve as hubs of interaction and growth. Flexible lounges, gathering spaces, and training rooms encourage connection and learning. Furnishings are carefully selected to balance durability with home-like comfort, creating spaces that are functional, welcoming, and empowering.
By pairing timeless materials with a human-centered approach, The Ethel demonstrates how interior design can foster healthy, resilient environments. More than housing, it provides residents with stability, opportunity, and a sense of community, showing how thoughtful design can create lasting social impact.
